The Becket Pageant for London and Livery Crafts Fair – CANCELLED

Unfortunately, this event has had to be cancelled due to COVID. It will take place in 2022.
Taking its inspiration from a historic London Becket Pageant of 1519, the Pageant of 2021 presents a playful, musical re-imagining of Becket’s life and legend, related through the eyes of early City guildsmen.

Not for profit and collecting for a charity nominated by The Archbishop of Canterbury. Funded by livery companies of the City of London and support from City of London CILNF grant.
An event for all ages celebrating the culture, resilience and creativity of the people of London.
A brand new piece of musical theatre written to mark the 900th anniversary of the birth of former Patron Saint of London, Thomas Becket, on Cheapside. With live band, and giant puppet parade and Tudor styled livery crafts fair showcasing the development of technical trades and the theme of apprenticeship. (Becket’s father was a Sheriff and Merchant and the pageant references an historic Tudor pageant staged by Guildsmen in 1519. ) School and community involvement includes creation of a specially created ‘Spirit of London Puppet’.
